The client had an existing concept and small-range tool organizers but needed a specific magnetic wrench holder that could securely hold larger wrenches using embedded magnets and structured retention geometry.
At the start, the idea existed as a concept referenced by product design language on the brand’s site, but it required a complete mechanical definition, internal magnet placement strategy, and manufacturable geometry suitable for production.
Key challenges included:
• Designing internal magnet seats and retention features
• Balancing holding force with ease of use
• Defining manufacturable wall thicknesses and part interfaces
• Maintaining consistency with the Olsa Tools product family
I transformed the concept into a fully detailed mechanical design ready for prototyping and manufacturing.
My contribution included:
• Defining the overall form and geometry based on Olsa’s ergonomic and visual language
• Designing internal magnet pockets and retention features so wrenches stay securely held in place
• Engineering wall thicknesses, draft, and ribs to support tooling and repeatable molding
• Optimizing parting lines, assembly logic, and magnet placement for real-world performance
• Producing clean STEP files and structured CAD suitable for supplier handoff
This work ensured the magnetic functionality performed as expected while remaining straightforward to manufacture and assemble.
The final design results in a robust magnetic wrench holder that balances secure tool retention, durability, and manufacturability.

• Is intuitive to use in workshop environments
• Uses clean, manufacturable geometry
• Is ready for prototyping and production tooling
